The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a stern warning for the region, with a significant number of Kovid-19 cases found in Southeast Asia.
“The situation is rapidly escalating. We must immediately step up our efforts to prevent the spread of the virus to more people,” said Dr Poonam Ketrapal Singh, Regional Director of the World Health Organization.
“More cluster communities of virus transmission are being confirmed. This is an indication of a vigilant and effective surveillance. The need for more aggressive and overall social efforts to prevent the spread of Kovid-19 is much more than that. We clearly need to. ” He added.
Eight of the 11 countries in the World Health Organization (WHO) South East Asia have confirmed the highest number of cases, with Thailand being the most affected. It also includes Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan.
