Prices of vegetables in Hong Kong have risen sharply due to the disruption of supply services across the border, reports say. Two vegetable truck drivers crossing the China-Hong Kong border have been reported to have contracted Covid.
Hundreds of vegetable trucks crossing the border have been delayed following the identification of Covid infected, officials say, adding that this has contributed to the rise in vegetable prices in Hong Kong.
More than 60 truck drivers have been quarantined at hotels across the border after two drivers were identified as Covid infected and were barred from leaving the hotel without proper health clearance. Due to this situation, the border has been closed on two occasions and it is reported that it has greatly affected the supply of vegetables to Hong Kong.
