Pope Francis says Ukraine is wet with the blood and tears of innocent Ukrainians affected by Russian attacks.
The Pope denies war and calls it ‘crazy’
Pope Francis made the remarks yesterday while delivering a speech from a window facing St. Peter’s Square.
He added that two Vatican cardinals had been sent to Ukraine to express their concern and provide assistance.
Here the Pope described the Ukraine conflict as “not just a military operation but a war that sows death, destruction and misery.”
The pope, who has prioritized good relations with the Russian Orthodox Church, which works closely with the Kremlin, refrained from blaming Russia for the war.
The pope called for a safe humanitarian corridor and thanked those who welcomed refugees from Ukraine.
