Foreign media reported that the peace talks held near the border between Russia and Ukraine on the intervention of the Belarusian government with the aim of ending the war situation have ended without a solution.
Despite calling for a ceasefire, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Selensky issued a number of conditions that further affected the situation.
Russia has said it will withdraw its troops from Ukraine and lay down arms before a negotiated settlement can be reached. It also stipulated that Ukraine become a member of the European Union with immediate effect. However, it is reported that there has been no response from Russia to these conditions.
However, it is reported that an agreement was reached between the representatives of both parties for a second round of talks. The chairman of Ukraine’s Presidential Advisory Council has told foreign correspondents that all delegates have left for their respective capitals, agreeing to a second round of talks in the next few days.
