The first Twenty20 Cricket World Cup semi-final between England and New Zealand begins at 7.30 p.m. local time today (10) at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
The two sides have played six times in a Twenty20 World Cup, with England and New Zealand winning three of the previous five encounters. The two teams will meet in the semi-finals for the second time.
The two sides had previously met in the 2016 tournament’s first semi-final, which England won by 7 wickets. The captains of both teams in that match, Owen Morgan and Kane Williamson, will also captain both teams in today’s encounter.
However, due to an injury, man of the match Jason Roy was unable to play today. The England batters have been outstanding so far in the tournament, taking the most wickets in an innings in matches played so far. The West Indies and Sri Lanka are on the receiving end of it.
The bowlers posed a greater threat to the rest of the team than the New Zealand bowlers. Jose Butler of England, who has the lone century in the competition so far, is now in second place with 240 runs in five matches. Trent Bolt of New Zealand is in third place behind the bowlers with 11 wickets.
