Rumors circulating around the world that the Tokyo Olympic authorities have provided athletes with cardboard beds to prevent them from engaging in sexual activity are false.
Olympic officials say the bed can carry 441 kilograms, and a video of an Irish gymnast jumping on such a bed was released on Twitter.
18,000 cardboard beds and polyethylene mattresses were supplied by a Japanese company called Eiviv. They will be fully recycled after the Olympics.
The rumor circulating about the distribution of 150,000 condoms to athletes participating in the Olympics is similar. It is given to them not to use there, but to take with them when they go abroad. Its purpose is to promote condom use.
