Russia’s Tass news agency reports that the second round of peace talks scheduled to be held yesterday to resolve the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has been postponed indefinitely. The talks were to be held in Beloveshkaya Pushacha, Belarus. Russian government sources say this is not a cancellation but a postponement of talks between the two sides.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Selensky has called for a ceasefire before the talks, and called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to stop bombing Ukraine before it reaches the negotiating table. Prior to the talks, he called on NATO to designate a no – fire zone to prevent Russia from dropping air bombs.
Russia’s Roman Akadievich, a billionaire businessman and owner of the famous Chelsea Football Club, will join the talks, the Israeli Jerusalem Post reported. It is reported that Roman, who holds citizenship in Israel, is joining the talks at the Belarusian border at the request of Ukraine.
The first round of talks between the two sides ended without a solution after about five hours, with the two sides dispersing, saying further discussions were needed to reach a definite agreement on a number of issues of paramount importance to the two countries. Prior to the second round of talks, the delegates were to receive advice from the leaders of their respective countries.
