The world’s largest natural single sapphire has been found in Sri Lanka.
Named the Queen of Asia (QUEEN OF ASIA), it weighs close to 310 kilograms.
Accordingly, this is the largest single sapphire in the world (Blue Sapphire).
The National Gem and Jewelery Authority says that this gem found in the Batugedara area in Ratnapura belongs to the Gemological Institute and Research Pvt. Ltd.
The gem is currently being deposited in the Horana area and was first exposed to the media this morning (12).
