Hurricane Nivar has entered India at a speed of 145 km per hour. The government has taken steps to direct people to safer places considering the existing risk.
Cyclone Niwar has now entered the Indian mainland between Pondicherry and Marakkanam in Tamil Nadu. According to Indian Meteorological Department, it belongs to the fifth category in terms of strength.
Due to this, heavy rains and winds of up to 120 km per hour are expected in India.
