New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first. New Zealand scored 219 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Chasing the target, the tourists could score only 215 runs for the loss of 8 wickets at the end of 20 overs.
After losing three wickets for 87 runs, Max Stoinis entered the innings with a quick innings but failed to find the back of the net as Australia were bowled out for 5 in the final over.
