Emperor Akihito leaves the crown
Japan’s Emperor Akihito (85) has said that he is ready to give up kingship in Tokio, reports foreign media. This is the last time the Emperor has spoken to the people. This is the first time that a Japanese emperor voluntarily crowned the history of over 200 years.
Emperor Akihito has stated that this decision was made because of ill health and old age.
Beginning a new chapter in Japan, Prince Charles crowned Wednesday as the next king of Japan. The Prince of Wales is the 126th emperor of Japan.
The Emperor of Japan has no political power and is a religious leader.
