Former South African cricket captain Faff du Plessis has announced his retirement from Test cricket. The former captain, who has played 69 Tests, hopes to focus more on playing in the Twenty20 World Cup this year and next.
‘It is an honor to represent the trio of Tests, ODIs and T20s for the motherland. But now is the time to leave the Test field, “said Du Plessis, 36, in a statement.
Du Plessis made his Test debut against Australia in Adelaide in 2012, scoring 78 in the first innings and 110 not out in the second innings to become the man of the match, scoring a century in the inaugural Test. When he retired from Test cricket, he played 69 matches and scored 4163 runs, including 10 centuries and 21 half-centuries.
