The Australian helmet used by the great batsman Sir Donald Bradman in his debut Test match in 1928 was sold at a recent auction for a record amount of US $ 450,000 (approximately Sri Lankan Rupees 85 million). The helmet was purchased by Peter Freeman, a billionaire businessman in Australia.
It went down in history as the second highest-selling cricket memorabilia at auction.
Peter Freeman told reporters after buying the great batsman that he hopes to travel around Australia wearing the cricket helmet he used in his Test debut.
The Australian cricketer is also the recipient of the highest selling cricket award at an earlier auction. The record was set earlier this year when a helmet worn by Shane Warne, Australia’s greatest spinner, sold for US $ 7,56,000 (Sri Lankan Rupees 140 million).
