Superstar Will Smith has been banned from attending the Oscars and other academies for 10 years.
In a statement, the academy’s organizers said that “the incident that Will Smith performed on stage at the 94th Academy Awards was unacceptable and harmful behavior.” He slapped Chris Rock, who was announcing the event, on the cheek.
Smith beats Rock over abusive remarks to his wife, who suffers from hair loss.
Less than an hour after the event, Will Smith won the Best Actor award at the Oscars.
However, Smith later apologized for his actions and resigned from the academy.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which is hosting the Oscars, met on Friday to discuss disciplinary action.
