The Indian Air Force (IAF) will conduct the country’s largest air force exercise ‘Vayu Shakthi’ on Monday at the Pokhran Range in Rajasthan. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the chief guest at the biennial exercise in 2022.
The Indian Air Force Media Coordinating Center said in a Twitter message on Friday that it was preparing to demonstrate its firepower if the air power exercise is to be held on March 7 in the Pokhran Mountains of Rajasthan.
There will be 148 Indian Air Force aircraft participating in Air Force 2022, of which 109 will be fighter jets. Rafale fighter jets will take part in the exercise for the first time on Monday. In addition, locally made Tejas light fighters will also showcase its capabilities.
Day, evening and night operations will be conducted by the Indian Air Force (IAF) under simulated conditions.
The Indian Air Force will also deploy the Akash missile system and the Spyder missile system during the aerospace exercise. The C17 and C130J transport aircraft purchased from the United States will also take part in the exercise.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Governor of Rajasthan Kalraj Mishra and Chief of Air Staff VR Chowdhury and Air and Defense Liaison Officers from allied countries are expected to attend the event.
The exercise is held every 3 years to demonstrate its readiness to perform full spectral operations. The last aerodynamic exercise was held in 2019.
