The Philippines says it has identified the first Delta Covid-19 strain of infected people in the country.
Earlier, five foreign tourists were identified as being infected with the Delta variety.
So far, however, 11 cases of Delta-borne Covid infection have been identified in the Philippines.
Three of them are reported to have returned to the Philippines after visiting the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Britain.
The total number of infected people in the Delta Covid genus has risen to 16.
With the identification of these infected people, the Philippine health authorities have warned that there could be a rapid spread of the Delta Covid variety.
