The rover, designed by NASA in the United States, has successfully landed on Mars.
“The good news is, I think the plane is fine … no problem,” said Matt Wallace, the project’s deputy manager.
This rover is also associated with a Sri Lankan name.
The electrical circuit of the aircraft was designed by a Sri Lankan woman.
She is Melanie Nilanthi Mahaarachchi born in Mount Lavinia.
She currently lives with her family in the United States.
The spacecraft will stay on Mars for about two years to collect samples for research.
Its purpose is to find out if life existed on that planet.
