China’s first unmanned aircraft carrier launched into the Taiwan Strait, causing Taiwan’s displeasure.
Taiwan has described the act as “intimidating” in China.
The Taiwan Defense Ministry has also issued a statement. China has begun the first maritime vessel to carry aircraft manufactured in their country, the ministry said.
The vessel was set off from Shandong, north of the Taiwan Strait.
“All their activities are monitored. We are protecting our country’s security, regional peace and stability, ”the Taiwan Defense Ministry said in a statement.
It was reported that security vessels were also traveling with the aircraft carrier.
The Taiwan Presidential Secretariat also issued a statement saying that China should maintain peace and stability across the Strait and the region. The Taiwan Presidential Secretariat said peace and stability were not readily available.
China regards Taiwan as an autonomous province. China’s “One China” policy is universally accepted, and many countries do not have bilateral relations with Taiwan. After the civil war of 1949, Taiwan seceded from the mainland, and China has since been trying to make Taiwan a part of its country.
China has full sovereignty on the island and is accepted by almost all countries in the world, including the United States.
However, the United States has been friendly to Taiwan in order to control China. However, there is no official diplomatic relationship between China and Taiwan. Nevertheless, the US sells very high-end military weapons and equipment to Taiwan.
President Xi Jinping has warned that Taiwan will be taken over by China using its official power, if necessary. However, he added that Taiwan should be annexed to China in a peaceful manner.
The Taiwan presidential election is scheduled for January. A Taiwan senior official has accused China of trying to intervene in the presidential election and that China is demonstrating its military might in the region.
“China is trying to intimidate impartial voters,” said the unnamed official.
