Most people remember a good area for vacationing on the beach. But Galle is most famous because of the huge Galle Fort than the beaches. The Galle fort and the fort of Galle, which also houses the UNESCO World Heritage List, is a unique place in the city.
The first tower built in Galle was originally built by the Portuguese but ruled by the Portuguese during the Dutch rule. This tower was built to provide protection to the archipist who was the main harbor in the 18th century when they controlled our coastal areas. The Galle Fort has been preserved for many centuries due to sunburns, rain and floods.
