The Haggala Botanical Gardens is one of the most beautiful botanical gardens in Sri Lanka. Haggala Park can be reached on foot from Nuwara Eliya to Badulla road, about 9 km away. Haggala Gardens is one of the most popular Haggala Parks in Sri Lanka. In 1861 the English rulers converted Haggala into a botanical garden. This is considered Sri Lanka’s Second Botanical Gardens.
Location
The botanical gardens have been established at a depth of 2173 meters and at a depth of 1745 meters above sea level in Haggala. The Haggala Botanical Gardens is situated in the Haggala Mountain Range along the Nuwara Eliya and Badulla districts.
A wonderful treasure
Haggala Botanic Gardens receives the northeast and southwest monsoon rains. The park is surrounded by the Haggala forest reserve. There are many endemic and endemic plants in Sri Lanka. A wide range of vegetation can be seen from both local and sub-tropical countries. Black Monkeys are also very important. Haggala Botanical Gardens is famous for its roses.
